Aras Coskuntuncel is a researcher and instructor who completed his Ph.D. at American University in communication, studying the struggle to control the flow of information in the digital era in the case of Turkey. Aras was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Media and Social Impact (CMSI), where he led and contributed to multiple award-winning research projects. His research explores the relationships among media, technology, and democracy. He also has taught a variety of classes at American University, Catholic University of America, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before coming to the United States, he was the diplomacy and foreign news editor at the Hurriyet Daily News, an English-language newspaper in Istanbul, Turkey. He has presented and published his research in English and Turkish.
