Global Innovation Index 2022 Launch
The Global Innovation Index (GII), published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in partnership with the Portulans Institute, ranks the innovation ecosystem performance of economies around the globe while highlighting innovation strengths and weaknesses and particular gaps in innovation metrics.

The 2022 edition of the GII will be released on September 29, 2022, 13:30 to 16:00 p.m. (Geneva time) during a hybrid launch event featuring ministers, business leaders and innovation experts. The event will include a presentation of key findings of the GII 2022 and two panel discussions.
The hybrid launch event will take place in the WIPO Conference Hall at WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. In-person registration is now open.
The launch will also be streamed live on WIPO’s website, with simultaneous interpretation into Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish. No registration is necessary to stream.
Theme: What is the future of innovation-driven growth?
This year’s GII focuses on the effect of innovation on productivity and wellbeing of society over the coming decades.
The report addresses the following question: Is stagnation and low productivity growth here to stay, or are we about to enter a new era, where new innovation spurts – the Digital Age and the Deep Science Innovation waves – bring about an economic uplift?
